Individual therapy for adults experiencing life
Therapy is not one size fits all, which is why I enjoy collaborating with you to figure out the best combination of approaches to guide you towards your needs. I often work with people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges and low self-esteem, although you need not to have a diagnosis or specific life event to benefit from this work. I employ eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), pieces of Internal Family Systems (IFS) , cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and relational approaches when working with people. If you don’t know what any of these things mean, don’t worry-all of them are tools to begin to explore and shift thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, responses, and relationships in positive ways for the people I work with.
What to Expect
Typically, after completing an initial phone consult and ensuring we are a good fit, the first session will be spent gathering an overview of what makes you, you. This looks like exploring current relationships, mental health history, medical and substance use history, work, spiritual or religious needs, and hopes for therapy.
After that I will share with you ideas about how best to address your needs and meet your goals, and together we will decide on the modality and focus that works best for you! This can-and typically does-change throughout our work together, so just because we start one place does not mean we can’t pivot when needed. Therapy should adjust to you-not the other way around.
I offer in person sessions in Longmont, CO and virtual services to anyone, anywhere in Colorado. We can discuss scheduling and availability needs in your phone consult!
